Mommyhood can be awesome, but it’s also super tough. Between keeping humans alive, managing the house, and being everyone’s emotional cheerleader, it’s no wonder a new study from Cricut found that 85% of moms say they just want more time for self-care practices.

Although taking care of yourself is essential, Cricut’s study found a stark reality that an alarming 60% of women feel overwhelmed with their various roles and daily responsibilities and 65% of women admitted they don’t prioritize self-care as much as they’d like.

Self-care for moms isn’t just about individual well-being; it’s about healthy families and thriving communities. When mothers are empowered, they can create nurturing environments for their children, fostering positive cycles that benefit everyone.

In honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, here a few tips to inspire every mom seeking ways to feel more empowered:

  • Start small: 65% of women struggle to prioritize self-care. Begin by incorporating small, achievable activities you enjoy, like reading a chapter, taking a walk, or pursuing a creative hobby.
  • Embrace creativity: 74% of moms and 70% of women overall view crafting and DIY projects as a stress reliever. Explore creative outlets, whether it’s painting, writing, or making something beautiful, to unwind and express yourself.
  • Find your tribe: 71% of women find strength in other women. Connect with other moms online or in person, forming a support system for sharing experiences and encouragement.
  • Seek support: Moms often place others’ needs before their own. Don’t hesitate to ask your partner, family, or friends for help with childcare or household chores, allowing you precious free time for self-care.
  • Reframe self-care: Instead of viewing it as selfish, recognize it as crucial for your well-being. A happy and healthy mom is better equipped to care for her family.
